There is a store and the only place in Second Life to find many of the previously unseen and unsold artworks and creations. Located high in the sky for zippy fps. (take a TP)

Black Books

There is something about the BBC show "Black Books" that makes me laugh out loud. I don't watch it regularly, but when I do catch it whilst channel flicking, I am taken. Both the acting and writing are just so well done, the absurdity of the situations can seem real.

Tamsin Greig as Fran Katzenjammer, can mesmerise me with her delivery and the ability to keep a straight face. No wonder in a Radio Times poll in 2005 she was voted the 19th most powerful person working in UK comedy!

The episode that I have just watched was 'A Little Flutter' and this would convince anybody that gambling was a losers sport.

I recommend viewing all, or even some of this great little show.

FIRE, FIRE, FIRE !!!!!

Firefox 3.0.1 HomePage address

HomePage address is set in the general tab of the options of tools.

Usually you can click the "use current page" button to have an address like http://www.google.com.au/ig?hl=en added.

Here is a neat trick that I have discovered in error !!

Read the button carefully "use current pageS" - it is plural !!!

So, if you have several tabs open, and select the "use current pageS" button, then several web addresses will be added, each with a pipe symbol ( | ) between them.

As a result Firefox now opens each address in a different tab. Which is a very cool thing!

!! How Good Is That !!

Soapbox shout from a friend 01

This is a shout from a friend whilst they were standing on their soapbox - getting stuff off their chest.

And a good shout too !!

"Today we look at cyclists - self righteous sods.... just cos they cycle - no other reason. This does not make them Zen like, Buddha or indeed saints - just road and pavement hungry hogs.... they want right of way on the roads - when they do not pay road tax... and they want to ride on the pavements - when they are clearly a danger not just to themselves but to pedestrians - yes people out on foot! Grrrr cross - I could bloody boil bunnies!"

Jean Michel Jarre Encouraging Fans To Make Creative Use Of His Music

Published by Jean Michel Jarre

http://aerojarre.blogspot.com/2008/04/youtube-update.html

It seems videos of the tour keep getting removed from YouTube. I just sent them a note:

I, Jean Michel Jarre, hereby authorise anyone to broadcast on Youtube any videos filmed during my concerts on " Oxygene in concert" tour, as long as it is a fair excerpt with the right credits which has been the case so far.
I certify that the only person able to allow or forbid these videos on Youtube is myself, being the composer of all the music, being the sole producer of the live audio and visual version, the performer and the co-publisher. I think these videos are a fair tribute to my work and contribute in a positive way to the exposure of my music.
Yours truly,
Jean Michel Jarre

At last, a performer that lives in the real world!!

Thank you.

Gmail, stars, Quick Links and searches.

Here is a great tip for Gmail users. There is a new feature added to Gmail Labs in May called Superstars. This is an extended method of the star used to flag a message. After you enable Superstars in Gmail Labs, save the changes and you now have the ability to choose between 12 icons.

To star messages faster, enable keyboard shortcuts in the settings. "The superstars will rotate when you press the 's' keyboard shortcut or when you click successively," explains Google. "Rotating through the superstars only works when you click (or hit 's') successively. If you pause for a second, then the next click will turn off the superstar. It's designed this way so that if you never click successively, then you'll just get the original on/off toggle behaviour."

Next, enable "Quick Links" in the Labs section too. This adds a box to the left column that gives you 1-click access to any bookmarkable URL in Gmail. You can use it for saving frequent searches, important individual messages, and more.

Now here is the cool part...... if you want to find the messages that have a certain kind of star, use one of the following queries:

Use the search operator "has:" to find all messages with your superstar (e.g. "has:red-bang", "has:blue-star"). Learn the name of a superstar by hovering over its image in the "General" Settings page.

OR here is a reference table

has:yellow-star (or l:^ss_sy)
has:blue-star (or l:^ss_sb)
has:red-star (or l:^ss_sr)
has:orange-star (or l:^ss_so)
has:green-star (or l:^ss_sg)
has:purple-star (or l:^ss_sp)
has:red-bang (or l:^ss_cr)
has:yellow-bang (or l:^ss_cy)
has:blue-info (or l:^ss_cb)
has:orange-guillemet (or l:^ss_co)
has:green-check (or l:^ss_cg)
has:purple-question (or l:^ss_cp)

As you perform a search (say has:yellow-star), when the search results page is displayed, simply click "Add Quick Link" from the Quick Links box, assign your search a short name e.g. Star yellow, and there you go! Whenever you need to find a starred item in Gmail, you have a fast shortcut without having to remember the search query.

So have fun starring and searching !!!

No skirts in Apple please

The new Apple store in Sydney Australia opened the other day. What a great looking, sleek glass building, all modern.

Even very modern stairs, gaps between each one, and translucent too!

Ermmm, ladies, this is probably NOT the place to wear a skirt.

Telstra: the spin isn't working

Copy of Australian blog entry bleedingedge.com.au
at http://bleedingedge.com.au/blog/archives/2008/06/telstra_the_spin_isnt_working.html

Who knows how much cash Telstra has spent attacking its critics and competitors, promoting itself as the champion of the national interest, and even using its financial muscle to prevent Bleeding Edge talking to a seniors' conference on computers. While we don't rely on its opposition site, TellTheTruthTelstra, for a completely unbiased point of view, reading through some of the posts indicates how Telstra is prepared to use the shabbiest sophistry to justify its self-serving tactics.

Right now, for instance, NowWeAreTalking - that expensive spin machine that it shamelessly promotes as a "blog" aimed at "setting the record straight" - is accusing former shadow Communications Minister Senator Kate Lundy of breaching parliamentary ethics in not disclosing that her husband, David Forman, is "on the payroll of the anti-Telstra cartel".

The fact that Forman is executive director of the Competitive Carriers Coalition is scarcely a secret, and to use the word "cartel" to describe Telstra's competitors is, in our view, bordering on defamation. A cartel is a group of companies which colludes to use its market power to set prices and output. It's not only totally untrue in the context of Australian telecommunications, it's a priceless irony: Telstra has all the market power in this country, and under its regime, consumers pay a heavy price. And if Rod Bruem's cynical, paid-for opinion isn't revolting enough, read the comments.

Apparently however, people are waking up to Telstra's tactics. According to a survey in Reader's Digest, Telstra CEO Sol Trujillo is one of the least trusted of Australia's most important or celebrated individuals. At No. 95 on a list of the most trusted people, headed by burns specialist Dr Fiona Wood and cancer researcher Professor Ian Frazer, Sol is equal with the faithless Shane Warne, and is rated as more trustworthy than only four notorious individuals: confessed terrorism supporter David Hicks, disgraced footballers Ben Cousins and Wayne Carey, and jailbird businessman Rodney Adler.

Reader's Digest offers some great advice to Sol and his senior management team. When it comes to being trusted, celebrity and being important doesn't count. Maligning and silencing your opponents doesn't work. Hiring mouthpieces like the too-clever-by-half Rod Bruem gets you nowhere. What works, according to Reader's Digest, is "humility, honesty and helping others". The public seems to have decided that Sol and his mates are interested "Sol-ely" in helping themselves.

Hypatia Voom in SecondLife

I see that a friend of mine has started a blog about her experiences in SecondLife. She has started with some worthwhile suggestions for shopping for clothes, and as we all know, there is a huge difference in quality available. An experienced SecondLife shopper with her tips will be greatly appreciated.

http://hypatiav.blogspot.com/

I recommend a look at her SecondLife blog, and I bet it will be worth bookmarking for regular followups.
